The RFS Kola, which has been in service since 1967, had a collision with the bulk carrier Ark Royal off Suez on 23 March 2021. The damage sustained was still visible when the ship returned to the Baltic Sea and was visible on the hull and superstructure (covered behind white and beige-coloured tarpaulins) in the aft section on the starboard side.
