MTU is sharing the order worth almost 68 million dollars with Air New Zealand Gas Turbines, a subsidiary of the airline of the same name based in Auckland, New Zealand.<br \/>\nThe LM2500 turbines were designed and built by the American company General Electric. They are based on the CF6-6 civil aircraft engine and have a gas generator with a rotor that can be aerodynamically coupled to a power turbine. The components of the LM2500 are a 16-stage compressor, an annular combustion chamber, a two-stage high-pressure turbine and, if necessary, a high-efficiency power turbine.<br \/>\nMTU has many years of experience with these power generators. MTU technicians have been repairing this most widely used gas turbine in the 20 to 25 MW power class since 1981.
