Schneider succeeds retired Vice Admiral Hans-Joachim Stricker, who headed the DMI as President for a total of nine years. Stricker has continuously advanced the DMI during his presidency. One of the major successes of his term of office was the establishment of the Maritime Capital Forum with its information events for political decision-makers and their employees in Berlin. The new President sees two focal points in his future work. The most current task is to accompany the reorientation of German security policy in maritime matters following the Bundestag elections.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the DMI will take an interdisciplinary look at trends in the maritime world and present them to the interested public. He was commander of the frigate L\u00dcBECK and commander of the 4th frigate squadron.
