Bundeswehr orders IT capacity and service for 192,000 users <\/strong><\/p>\n

The last few days have been filled with parliamentary debate on the so-called \"25 million bills\". Almost unnoticed, there has been another very important investment in the future of the armed forces, as the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw)<\/strong> has recently started IT in-house company BWI GmbH<\/strong> concluded a contract for the expansion of existing IT services worth around 2.2 billion euros. This contract runs until 31 December 2027 and is intended to ensure the further development of non-military information and communication technology. In addition to uninterrupted operation and 24\/7 IT support, the services also include workplace computers, complete software management, the operation of telecommunications, data centres, data networks and central services (e.g. e-mail) as well as the Bundeswehr's own intranet. Another key component of the service expansion is the expansion of capacities for location-independent working in the Bundeswehr, including the necessary infrastructure. This includes 65,000 additional mobile access points (remote access service), bandwidth expansions, the delivery of additional and the regeneration of existing end devices and highly mobile IT equipment as well as tablets and smartphones. In addition, the signing of the contract included the further development of a private cloud for the German armed forces (pCloudBw) and the harmonisation of training platforms and training systems. Further plans for the further development of the\"<\/em>IT - World of the Bundeswehr\", such as for the medical service and other experimental projects. Everyone benefits from this - and hardly anyone<\/p>\n
