The keel of the future corvette was laid as planned today (13 July) at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast with the traditional hammering in of the brass plate between the keel block support and the steel section\u00a0Augsburg<\/span> for the German Navy. Due to the coronavirus, the ceremony was only attended by a small group of participants, including representatives from the sponsor city.

At the same time, employees of the Kiel-based partner German Naval Yards are preparing to ship the forecastle of boat 8 and the Wolgast Peene workers are preparing to ship the stern. The merger will take place at the L\u00fcrssen shipyard Blohm+Voss in Hamburg. Meanwhile, work on the scheduled undocking of boat 7 is underway there. The corvettes, which are around 89 metres long, will also be fitted out and commissioned here. They will then undergo their functional checks and acceptance tests from Hamburg in coordination with the specialised departments of the public client and the German Navy. The type ship of the second batch of corvettes is already in the outfitting phase.

The construction contract awarded by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) on 12 September 2017 comprises five additional class 130 corvettes. The first five units have been in service since 2008. Boats six to ten will be built by the K 130 consortium (Arge), consisting of Fr. L\u00fcrssen Werft, Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and German Naval Yards Kiel. In addition to design services, production and the integration of all systems, equipment and installations, the contract also includes the design of the shore and training facilities.
\nTwo forecastles have already been built at the L\u00fcrssen shipyard in Bremen and three are currently being manufactured and pre-equipped at the Kiel site of German Naval Yards. The five aft ships are being built at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast.<\/p>\n
