{"id":17368,"date":"2022-03-01T22:48:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-01T21:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marineforum.online\/?p=17368"},"modified":"2022-03-02T17:33:21","modified_gmt":"2022-03-02T16:33:21","slug":"sea-of-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marineforum.online\/en\/meer-aus-daten\/","title":{"rendered":"Sea of data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New digital cooperation launched in the maritime region between Rostock and Kiel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prime Minister Daniel G\u00fcnther<\/strong> the maritime digitisation project funded by the federal government with over 9 million euros will be presented on 2 March 2022 in the State House.\u00a0 <strong><em>Maritime Smart Sensor Data Space X\" (Marispace-X)<\/em><\/strong> introduce.<\/p>\n<p>Stopping climate change, accelerating the expansion of wind power and clearing old munitions from the sea more quickly - a new big data project was launched in Germany on 24 February 2022. Federal Minister Dr Robert Habeck gave the go-ahead for the new digital lighthouse project Maritime Smart Sensor Data Space X, or Marispace-X for short, at the presentation of the funding decisions in Berlin last week.<br \/>\nThe \u20ac15 million project, led by the cloud provider IONOS, is being coordinated by the digital company north.io from Kiel and realised by a project consortium from Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Marispace-X was selected from over 130 applications as one of 16 lighthouse projects that will make a significant contribution to the European digital infrastructure initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics. Marispace-X is the largest industry-driven digitalisation project of its kind and is set to make a significant contribution to the development of the maritime data economy and value creation at a local, regional and international level. In future, marine data can be securely and efficiently stored, shared and analysed worldwide in a cloud environment.<\/p>\n<p>The utility of the project is illustrated by four use cases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\"With the help of Marispace-X, the expansion speed of offshore wind turbines can be significantly increased in future, for example by multiplying the speed of data processing during area exploration,\" says Frithjof Hennemann from TrueOcean GmbH, who heads the wind power use case in Marispace-X.<\/li>\n<li>Combining and analysing maritime data from different sources (measured on the seabed or from a ship) is currently difficult and cost-intensive. This slows down the exploration and utilisation of the ocean. The Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (IGD) is tackling the challenges within Marispace-X with the Digital Ocean Lab underwater test field in Rostock.<\/li>\n<li>The project is also investigating how coastal vegetation can be specifically cultivated in future in order to absorb more CO2 from the atmosphere. One example of this is seagrass meadows. They cover an estimated 600,000 square kilometres worldwide, equivalent to the size of France, and already absorb over 80 million tonnes of CO2 every year - as much as all cars in Italy and France emit in the same period.<\/li>\n<li>Another application of Marispace-X is the faster location and clearing of<br \/>\nAmmunition waste in the sea: over 1.6 million tonnes from the world wars lie in the North and Baltic Seas alone.
