BAE Systems Australia, prime contractor for the construction of the Australian Hunter class, has awarded Raytheon Ansch\u00fctz a contract to develop an integrated navigation and bridge system for the frigate programme.<\/p>\n
Raytheon Ansch\u00fctz will initially be responsible for system development and requirements testing for the Warship Integrated Navigation and Bridge System (WINBS) for the nine Royal Australian Navy (RAN) frigates, which are to be used for anti-submarine warfare, among other things. Following this initial technical work, the contract will be expanded in line with the progress of the project. According to Raytheon Ansch\u00fctz, WINBS is based on the SYNAPSIS integrated navigation system, which has developed into a world-leading navigation solution for the navy. BAE Systems Australia's maritime division will design, build and deliver the nine Hunter-class ships for the RAN. The contract is worth 35 billion Australian dollars (around 23 billion euros). The frigates are based on the design of the reference ship Type 26, which is currently being built in Glasgow for the Royal Navy. The Hunter class is scheduled to enter service from 2027\/2028.<\/p>\n
