Minimised last year, this year's Hanse Sail will once again be a magnet for sailing enthusiasts and will take place without restrictions since 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The major maritime event in Rostock and Warnem\u00fcnde is undoubtedly a fixed date in the annual calendar of sailors and ship-loving holidaymakers alongside Kiel Week. As in previous years, the Hanse Sail opens on the second weekend in August and offers locals and tourists a wide range of entertainment with a maritime flair.<\/p>\n

The German Armed Forces, in particular the German Navy, are involved in organising the event with a large contingent of ships, boats and helicopters. Traditionally, the opening jump is carried out by paratroopers from Parachute Regiment 31 from Seedorf and the naval aviators from Nordholz. The Hanse Sail will be officially opened at 5.35 p.m. on the dot by Manuela Schwesig, Minister President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.<\/p>\n

The navy is not only presenting itself with modern systems, but also with tried and tested ones. On Wednesday, the training sailing ship Gorch Fock moored at the passenger quay in Warnem\u00fcnde. The white lady of the German Navy is on a training voyage through the Baltic Sea and is taking the opportunity to lead the windjammer parade at the Hanse Sail again after an absence of more than six years.<\/p>\n

At the Warnem\u00fcnde naval base, visitors will be offered a wide range of entertainment and plenty of skills demonstrations. In addition to culinary experiences from field kitchens and diving demonstrations, there will be the opportunity to talk to soldiers from the 1st Corvette Squadron on the corvette Oldenburg during the Open Ship. As in previous years, the naval aviators with their dynamic flying display will once again be the main crowd-puller. Rumour has it that a draw has been held many months in advance to decide who will fly at the Hanse Sail and who will amaze the visitors.<\/p>\n

The Hanse Sail once again offers the opportunity to bring interested parties closer to the German Navy with a large programme.<\/p>\n
