The object of the contract is the construction documentation for Colombia's new frigate PES (Plataforma Estrategia de Superficie - Strategic Surface Unit), which is to be built at the shipyard in Cartagena-de-Indias on the Caribbean side of Colombia. These CIWS guns are equipped with a muzzle velocity sensor at the end of the barrel, which measures the exact projectile velocity via two coils and inductively sets the firing time via a third coil on each passing, high-precision fuse of the AHEAD (Advanced Hit Efficiency and Destruction) projectiles, so that the projectile detonates immediately before the approaching enemy weapon.
