The submarine, which entered service on 12 October 2021, was accompanied by the ocean-going tug \"Viktor Konetskiy\" on the 9,000 nautical mile journey to Vladivostok. Photo: Michael Nitz<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Construction series for the Pacific fleet<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The \"Magadan\" is the third of six Kilo II-class submarines ordered for the Russian Pacific Fleet from the Admiralty Shipyard in St. Petersburg. The submarines, which displace a good 3,000 tonnes when submerged and are almost 74 metres long, were ordered in September 2016. The boats <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\"Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky\" and \"Volkhov\" have already been commissioned in the last two years and handed over to the Pacific Fleet. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The other three sister boats \"Mozhaysk\", \"Ufa\" and \"Yakutsk\", which are currently under construction or undergoing trials, are expected to be delivered by 2024.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Construction series for the Black Sea Fleet<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The first batch of Project 636.3 with six boats went to the Black Sea Fleet ten years ago. These boats last became known there as carriers of the submarine-launched Kalibr cruise missiles SS-N-27 (sea target) or SS-N-30 (land target), of which they can carry a maximum of six in their torpedo tubes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The photographs were taken by Mr Michael Nitz during the \"Magadan's\" relocation voyages in the Baltic Sea in August.<\/span><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nachdem das Boot an den Feierlichkeiten zum Tag der Russischen Marine in Sankt Petersburg Ende Juli teilgenommen hatte, durfte sich der U-Boot-Neubau \u201eMagadan\u201c (B-602) der modifizierten Kilo-II-Klasse (Projekt 636.3) auf eine mehrmonatige Verlegungsfahrt begeben.
