{"id":24972,"date":"2022-11-08T15:16:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-08T14:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marineforum.online\/?p=24972"},"modified":"2025-09-29T21:15:34","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T19:15:34","slug":"frigate-mecklenburg-vorpommern-returns-from-defence-of-the-alliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marineforum.online\/en\/fregatte-mecklenburg-vorpommern-kehrt-von-der-buendnisverteidigung-zurueck\/","title":{"rendered":"Frigate \"Mecklenburg-Vorpommern\" returns from Alliance defence mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">On Tuesday, 8 November 2022 at 9.30 a.m., the Brandenburg-class submarine frigate \"Mecklenburg-Vorpommern\" (F123) returned to Wilhelmshaven from a NATO mission.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>So that<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> marks the end of the second deployment this year for the crew and their commander, frigate captain Hendrik Wi\u00dfler (45). Firstly, they travelled with the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) to the Atlantic off the Portuguese coast in summer, before the frigate then travelled in a national formation across the Arctic Circle to Andoya in northern Norway, which is already slightly wintry.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The almost three-month tour was characterised throughout by challenging manoeuvres in a multinational and national context, with the final phase of the Heimdall 2022 and Vision 2022 projects for the exercise of joint tactical fire support in Norway and subsequent submarine hunting training standing out in particular. Photo: Bundeswehr\/Rodewald<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The \"Mecklenburg-Vorpommern\" comes home with a crew of 195 soldiers, including 16 officer cadets who completed their on-board internship as part of their training.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> was an on-board helicopter component of Naval Air Wing 5 from<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nordholz with two Sea Lynx MK 88A on board.
