{"id":33027,"date":"2023-11-13T15:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T14:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marineforum.online\/?p=33027"},"modified":"2023-11-13T15:23:29","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T14:23:29","slug":"system-with-conveyor-belt-reduces-rescue-time-at-sea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marineforum.online\/en\/system-mit-foerderband-verkuerzt-rettungszeit-in-see\/","title":{"rendered":"System with \"conveyor belt\" shortens rescue time at sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LONDON - A new rescue system \"pulls\" a person who has fallen overboard safely out of the water in less than a minute.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the rescue of a dummy in the harbour, it was demonstrated that the patented \"Swift Rescue Conveyer System\" from ZELIM works like a conveyor belt and rescues people who have fallen overboard up to four times faster than conventional systems, such as a rescue gallows.<\/p>\n<p>During a three-day demonstration around Vattenfall's Ramsgate offshore wind farm off the Thames estuary, offshore search and rescue specialists showed that the Swift rescue device can be quickly lowered into the water by remote control after the \"person overboard\" role has been triggered and people can be quickly brought back on board to safety. In particular, the tests two nautical miles off the coast in strong winds (35 kn\/ 8 Bft) and rough seas (1.6 metre wave height) ensured an even better result. Photo: ZELIM<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The presentation in Ramsgate showed that it is quicker, safer and easier to rescue one or more people from the water compared to conventional rescue systems. The Swift system can be integrated into the design of crew transfer vessels or retrofitted to existing ferries. It offers the offshore wind industry better rescue options for people who have gone overboard, especially in poor weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Small boats, such as tugs, ferries and pilot boats, are ideal for installing the \"Swift Rescue Conveyer System\" on board. It would be worth checking whether this rescue system also produces equally good results in larger versions. If so, it could also be used on ships with a higher freeboard.
