Some 29 nations, 40 ships, 3 submarines, 14 national land forces, over 150 aircraft and helicopters and more than 25,000 soldiers will take part in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, which is scheduled to take place in and around the Hawaiian Islands from 26 June to 2 August.<\/p>\n

RIMPAC 2024 is the 29th exercise in the series that began in 1971. As the world's largest international naval manoeuvre, RIMPAC brings together the capabilities of armed forces in a dynamic maritime environment to demonstrate enduring interoperability across the full spectrum of military operations.<\/p>\n

The theme of RIMPAC 2024 is \"Partners: Integrated and Prepared\". To promote a free and open Indo-Pacific, RIMPAC is the premier joint naval exercise that utilises and preserves a world-class maritime training environment. With inclusivity at its core, RIMPAC fosters multinational cooperation and trust, leverages interoperability, and achieves respective national objectives to strengthen integrated, prepared coalition partners.<\/p>\n

Armed forces from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, the United Kingdom and the United States are taking part in this year's exercise.<\/p>\n

RIMPAC 2024 will be hosted by the Commander of the US Pacific Fleet. It will be led by the Commander of the US 3rd Fleet, who will also serve as the Commander of the Combined Task Force (CTF). Other senior leadership roles will be assumed by servicemen and women from Chile, Japan, Canada and Australia.<\/p>\n
