For the first time since the insolvency of MV Werften in 2022, more than 1,000 people worked at the Wismar shipyard again last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the works council, around 500 people are now working for \"Meyer Werft Wismar\" again. They are joined by external workers, mainly from Estonia and Poland. At peak times, up to 1,400 people are working on the cruise ship \"Disney Adventure\" (formerly \"Global Dream\"), which is currently being converted and completed into a floating Disney theme park for around 6,000 passengers. The 342 metre-long ship is due to be undocked and completed at the outfitting quay in spring. The \"Disney Adventure\" is scheduled to make its maiden voyage in South East Asia in December.<\/p>\n

Meyer Werft has been a tenant at the site, which was purchased by thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (tkMS) in order to build submarines and surface units simultaneously, since August 2023. Shortly before Christmas 2024, the \"maritime powerhouse\" was awarded the contract for the construction of four further German option submarines, most of which are to be built in Wismar from 2027. The expansion of the orders will make a direct contribution to strengthening and creating jobs in Wismar and end the long wait for orders.<\/p>\n
