The efforts and opportunities of the German Navy can also be viewed in the light and from an international perspective. It is important to keep an eye on both ends of the performance spectrum. Because more credible than emphasising one's own capabilities is a well-founded comment from the corner of the "Big Boys" about a fellow combatant whose pockets are nowhere near as full as "Uncle Sam". He was a naval officer in the US Navy (surface warfare), then spent ten years at the NATO Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre in Lisbon before becoming an advisor to NGOs and agencies involved in security policy. You can take his views seriously. He gained a good insight into the thinking and actions of the German Navy during a three-year exchange as a crew member of the frigate F 214 "Lübeck" from 2000 to 2003.

Click here for the article published by the Center for Maritime Strategy (Arlington/Virginia, USA):

Read article

Please also read:

To the article

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="wp-image-42681" src="/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/deu-ss-186-ssk-typ212a-u36-nitz-e1738345142630-300x102.jpg" alt="Type 212A "U36" submarine.
