On Thursday, 20 February 2025, the commander of the 2nd Frigate Squadron, Frigate Captain Jan Hackstein, handed over command of the frigate \"Hamburg\" from Frigate Captain Andreas Schmidt to the new commander, Frigate Captain Alexander Timpf.
\nFrigate Captain Schmidt will take up his new post with the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) in Mons, Belgium (SHAPE) in a few days' time. The frigate \"Hamburg\" is not an unfamiliar ship for Frigate Captain Timpf. He was already a member of the ship's crew for four years in 2011. Most recently, Timpf was an operations officer in Brunssum in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
