The Gorch Fock is here."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Open Ship: Clear the way for the training sailing ship \"Gorch Fock\" at Bontekai<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, 30 August 2025 and Sunday, 31 August 2025 from 1 pm to 6 pm, you can visit the German Navy's training sailing ship, the \"Gorch Fock\", at Wilhelmshaven's Bontekai. This is not only intended as a gift to the people of Wilhelmshaven, but of course there is an intention behind it in addition to the public relations work.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of this year's summer voyage is on recruiting young talent. \"Following our participation in the Sail events in Bremerhaven and Amsterdam, I am delighted to be presenting the 'Gorch Fock' at the Bontekai in Wilhelmshaven this weekend,\" says Commander Frigate Captain Elmar Bornkessel. \"Our aim is to give young people in particular a direct insight into life and training on board. The Open Ship offers the people of Wilhelmshaven the opportunity to get to know our ship and talk to the crew,\" he continues.<\/p>\n<p>The sail training ship will set sail again on 1 September 2025.
