Caudle, Photo: US-Navy\/F.C.Reyes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Caudle is to replace the interim Admiral James Kilby six months after the dismissal of Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman to occupy the post. Caudle has a broad academic background in chemistry, computer science and organisational science and has risen through the ranks in the submarines from watch officer to fleet commander. He is more likely to advocate a restructuring of the U.S. shipyard organisation than an increase in shipbuilding spending - which puts him right in line with the President. On 25 August 2025, Admiral Daryl Caudle was confirmed as the 34th CNO and inaugurated by Secretary of the Navy John Phelan.
