Godmother of the \"<span lang=\"NL\">Ram<\/span><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">\u00f3<\/span><span lang=\"IT\">n Boniface<\/span>\" was the Spanish K<span lang=\"SV\">\u00f6<\/span>nigin Sof\u00eda. The Bonifaz class (146 metres, 6,200 tonnes) is to replace the six units of the Santa Maria class (modified replica of the American FFG 7 Oliver Hazard Perry class, 138 metres, 4,100 tonnes) as a multi-purpose frigate. Further outfitting is now taking place at the pier, while another two of the five frigates are already being assembled in Ferrol in sections.
