Wroblewski

As part of the keel laying ceremony, the shipyard also revealed the name of the ship: „Modularis“. The name of the unit, which DLR describes as a seagoing research platform, is intended to reflect the modularity of the concept. The „Modularis“ will be used by civilian companies from the maritime industry to test their technologies as well as by the navy. In particular, WTD 71 in Eckernförde intends to use the platform for its own purposes.

The ship will primarily be used on the North Sea and Baltic Sea for test voyages lasting one to several days. In the „floating laboratory“, climate-friendly propulsion systems, for example based on hydrogen and batteries, will be tested and further developed. As well as projects in the field of security and defence research.

The final outfitting will take place at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven from autumn this year. After completion, the ship will have its home port in Kiel. Lloyd Werft was awarded the contract to build the ship last February. However, as no hulls are built in Bremerhaven, the Heinrich Rönner Group awarded the steel construction to the Flensburg shipyard. The shipyard formerly known as FSG was last winter was saved from insolvency by Rönner, while Lürrsen took over the Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg.

At the keel-laying ceremony for the first 29-tonne section, FSG Managing Director Frank Mallon thanked Lloyd Werft, among others, for the trust they had placed in him. He was delighted about this milestone and also about the speed at which the construction of the ship is progressing. After the planned launch next autumn, the "Modularis" will be transferred to Bremerhaven for final outfitting. Delivery is planned for summer 2027.

Text: Anna Wroblewski / HANSA International Journal

DLR research vessel: Following the firing launch in February, a new research vessel for the German Aerospace Centre was laid down today.

[486,42,49,52
6971,12919,3351,8516,12917,5152,12908,397,1033,12918,12921,8962,5837,12907,561,196,1147,12161,12920
post-55089","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-headlines","category-news","category-schiffsbau-news","category-technologie-news","tag-autonome-schifffahrt","tag-autonome-schifffahrt-forschung","tag-bremerhaven","tag-dlr","tag-dlr-forschungsschiff-modularis","tag-flensburger-schiffbau-gesellschaft","tag-flensburger-werft","tag-forschungsschiff","tag-kiellegung","tag-kiellegung-fsg","tag-klimavertraegliche-schifffahrt","tag-lloyd-werft-bremerhaven","tag-lloyd-werft","tag-modularis","tag-nordsee","tag-ostsee","tag-schiffbau","tag-wasserstoffantrieb","tag-wtd-71-eckernfoerde
["GET
