Eidam is moving to the naval command in Rostock to work on the conceptual planning of the navy. With Frigate Captain Lahl, another experienced naval officer is taking over the squadron. He can look back on assignments as commander of a fast patrol boat, deputy commander of the corvette squadron and consultant in the planning department of the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin. Only the <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">Main<\/span> is subordinate to the 1st submarine squadron in Eckernf\u00f6rde due to its specialised capabilities. In addition to the pure supply function, the tenders also provide space for embarked specialists. These can be technicians who help with major repairs or doctors who run their own infirmary on the ships.
