On 29 September 2021, the first commercial container ship was refuelled with CO2-neutral synthetic LNG in Brunsbüttel. This makes the "ElbBLUE", owned by the German shipping company Elbdeich and registered in Limassol, the first ship in the world to run on synthetic natural gas (SNG).
