Anlässlich des 500. Geburtstags der königlich-schwedischen Marine besuchten ihre Segelschulschiffe Falken und Gladan zu Christi Himmelfahrt die Hansestadt Lübeck. 1522 kaufte das nordische Land hier seine ersten zehn Kriegsschiffe. Seeschlachten wenige Jahrzehnte später zwischen Schweden und Lübeckern sind lange vergessen, mittlerweile wird die Freundschaft gefeiert. Zu dieser Gelegenheit war auch die Marinechefin des voraussichtlich zukünftigen NATO-Mitglieds, Konteradmiral Ewa Skoog Haslum, angereist. Sweden is currently experiencing a profound change in security policy, which will strengthen the country's navy in the long term after years of cutbacks and make it a valuable partner in the NATO alliance.
