Vor zwei Jahren fiel aufgrund der Pandemie das Manöver Rimpac recht klein aus. Die wachsende Bedrohung durch China lässt 2022 die 27 teilnehmenden Nationen wieder stärker zusammenrücken. Das weltweit größte multinationale maritime Großmanöver Rimpac (Rim of the Pacific) findet seit 1971 alle zwei Jahre im westpazifischen Raum rund um Hawaii statt. Geplant und ausgeführt wird es vom Commander US Pacific Fleet. Hatten 2018 noch 26 Nationen mit einem großen Aufgebot an See- und Seeluftstreitkräften, Flugzeugen und insgesamt rund 25 000 Soldaten teilgenommen, so fand Rimpac 2020 wegen der Coronapandemie nur mit zehn Nationen in einem sehr begrenzten Rahmen statt....
