Another American guided missile destroyer is stationed in Rota, Spain. This further increases the importance of the location. The US Navy is increasing its permanent stationing presence in Europe from the current four to six Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers. Washington and Madrid already agreed in summer 2022 on the basic reinforcement of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces - Europe (FDNF-E) stationed in Rota, Spain, since 2014. We are not playing the cards right

"Personnel shortage in the Bundeswehr!", "Things are looking bleak!" That's what you read everywhere. A reason to visit the head of the Wilhelmshaven career centre. Frigate Captain Christian Clausing can be found at Rheinstraße 47, an old naval address in Wilhelmshaven. Wide corridors, typical Bundeswehr notice boards, well-known navy pictures and a friendly atmosphere. The interviewer is also in a good mood, although terms such as a shortage of applicants and a shortage of skilled labour should actually make you expect a serious face. But Clausing has long been familiar with the field, having been a personnel officer in Operational Flotilla 2 before his time as Commander of Karlsruhe, and he thinks of solutions and speaks plainly. Northern Coasts 2023: Strengthening the Baltic Sea Region together!

In September, the naval exercise Northern Coasts 2023 took place in the Baltic Sea - the exercise was planned and led from the naval command by the German Maritime Forces Staff - Deu Marfor for short. It was a grey September morning when the screens in the operations centre of the naval command were switched off. Poor weather conditions in the Northern Coasts (Noco) exercise area, particularly in the coastal areas of Latvia and Estonia, led to the decision to end the manoeuvre two days earlier than planned. Up to this point, the multinational staff of Deu Marfor led Task Force 421, at this time still under Flotilla Admiral Stephan Haisch as Deputy...

Marineschule Mürwik: Education binary

Steeped in history. Traditional. Time-honoured. These and similar terms are quickly associated with the alma mater of naval officers, the Mürwik Naval School (MSM). The "Red Castle by the Sea", built between 1907 and 1910 by building councillor Adalbert Kelm in the style of the Marienburg of the Teutonic Order according to the ideas of Emperor Wilhelm II, undoubtedly looks back on a long, albeit very eventful history. Every joint of the red brick building, which towers over the fjord in the east of the city of Flensburg, is brimming with historical references. After all, not only have all officers of the German navy been trained at this training centre since 1910 for their service in the...
