Italy delivers corvettes to Qatar

The Emirate of Qatar has received the first of the corvettes ordered from Fincantieri. The type ship is the "Al Zubarah", which is also the namesake of the class that Qatar ordered from the Italian shipbuilder in 2016 as part of the national naval procurement programme. The order is worth around four billion euros. The delivery has now taken place at the shipyard in Muggiano (La Spezia). The "Al Zubarah" class corvettes should be able to fulfil a wide range of tasks, from maritime surveillance to sea rescue.
