Royal Navy trials autonomous RIB

The Royal Navy has taken a major step towards the use of autonomous ships. During recent trials in Plymouth, the frigate HMS Argyll piloted an unmanned Pacific 24 inflatable boat (RIB) at sea. During the week-long trials, conducted by the Royal Navy's technical division, NavyX, and BAE Systems, the cameras and sensors on board the boat constantly fed data to Argyll and a temporary operations centre was set up in the ship's hangar. For the first time, the RIB's control system was also integrated into the ship's operations room so that it could be controlled and commanded from the same location.

Am 01. Oktober wurde in Dortmund das „Living Lab“ des DRZ e.V. (Deutsches Rettungsrobotik-Zentrum e.V.) eröffnet. Im Rahmen dieser feierlichen Veranstaltung wurde auch SZENARIS als neues Mitglied begrüßt. Das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) geförderte Kompetenzzentrum ermöglicht die Erforschung und Entwicklung mobiler Robotersysteme für die zivile Gefahrenabwehr. Auf Versuchsflächen (innen und außen) können dabei die verschiedenen Systeme in unterschiedlichen Szenarien auf ihre Einsatztauglichkeit hin erprobt werden. On 29 September 2021, the first commercial container ship was refuelled with CO2-neutral synthetic LNG in Brunsbüttel. This makes the "ElbBLUE", owned by the German shipping company Elbdeich and registered in Limassol, the first ship in the world to run on synthetic natural gas (SNG). Built in China in 2012, the container ship is 153 metres long and has a displacement of 13,200 tonnes and can transport 1,036 containers. Originally powered by heavy fuel oil, the MAN 8L48/60B diesel engine from MAN Energy Solutions was converted to the MAN 51/60DF four-stroke engine in 2017.
