The US destroyer Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) moored at Kiel-Wik naval base on Wednesday morning after arriving from the central Baltic Sea. The ship, which was commissioned on 4 July 1991, has been part of the US Navy's Forward Deployed Naval Force-Europe (FDNF-E) since the second week of April and is stationed in Rota (Spain). Prior to this, the Arleigh Burke left its previous home base in Norfolk on 26 March 2021 for a redeployment voyage. From 11 to 13 May, two ships from the Russian Pacific Fleet are visiting Singapore. The destroyer Admiral Tributs and the ocean-going tug Kalar have moored at Changi Naval Base to replenish supplies. The Tributs is a Project 1155 (Udaloy I) destroyer. At 163 metres in length, it displaces 6840 tonnes. The crew includes almost 300 soldiers. The Tributs is armed with two 100-millimetre guns as well as 8 SS-N-14 Silex and 8 SA-N-9 Kinschal. The Australian shipyard Austal has handed over what is now the tenth Guardian-class patrol boat to the country's Ministry of Defence. In a small ceremony, the boat was then immediately handed over to the Solomon Islands, an island nation in the South Pacific. Another incident occurred in the Strait of Hormuz this Monday evening (10 May). Thirteen Iranian Revolutionary Guards speedboats approached an American naval convoy passing through the Strait at high speed. The ships included the Ohio-class strategic nuclear submarine USS Georgia and the Ticonderoga cruiser Monterey. Despite signals from the ship's siren and repeated requests to turn away by radio and loudspeaker, the boats came within 140 metres of the ships. It was only after a US Coast Guard cutter, which was also part of the convoy, fired two salvos totalling 30 shots that the boats turned and moved away.
