The Minister responsible for the Canadian Coast Guard, Bernadette Jordan, has announced that her country will acquire two new icebreakers as part of the National Shipbuilding Strategy. They will replace the largest icebreaker currently in service, the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent, when it is retired as planned in 2030. The new ships will also give the coastguard new capabilities, as the future units will be larger and more powerful than their predecessors. This will enable longer operations to be carried out in more northerly regions. A length of around 150 metres with a width of 28 metres is planned....

French fishermen do not want to comply with the British government's stipulation that only vessels that have a proven history of fishing in the waters around Jersey are allowed to do so. After around two and a half months, the Turkish frigate Kemalreis has left Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG 2). According to NATO information, only the Spanish destroyer Méndez Núñez is now part of this group. SNMG 2 is commanded by Spanish Flotilla Admiral Manuel Aguirre Aldereguía. The Chinese navy decommissioned its frigate Zhaotong (555) on 26 April. It was one of the last Jianghu II class (type 053 H1) ships still in service. These purely Chinese products were designed and produced in the 1980s. With a length of 103 metres, the approximately 10 metre wide units only displaced around 1600 tonnes.
