In the presence of Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius, TKMS held the firing start for the construction of the new submarine class 212CD. The navy is already hoping for a follow-up order.
When the contract for the U 212CD project was signed on 8 July 2021, the company was still cautious: construction of the first submarine of the new class could begin in 2023. In fact, the time has now come. In the new shipbuilding hall of Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), around 200 invited spectators and media representatives witnessed the start of production for the U 212 CD on 12 September. Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and his Norwegian counterpart Björn Arild Gram were the guests of honour.
