The master panel builders from Lichtenau

Many of the German Navy's missions are characterised by an asymmetric threat. Modern protection systems promise security. The German Navy has been operating in crisis regions around the world for years in order to contribute to overcoming them and securing sea lanes. In this environment, naval units are exposed to a variety of threats during operations in coastal waters, straits or harbours. In addition to traditional threats, the ships are particularly exposed to asymmetric and hybrid threats. Asymmetric threats have become increasingly serious since the end of the 1990s. Partnership with potential

There is meaningful cooperation between the navies of Germany and France on many levels. However, cooperation is not always easy. The roots of Franco-German naval cooperation lie in the political establishment of friendship between the two nations after the Second World War. This can now look back on more than 58 years of successful history. On 22 January 1963, French President Charles de Gaulle and German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer signed the Elysée Treaty in Paris. Three all-rounders

All core mine defence capabilities are combined on the 332CL class boats. The refit is a good example of successful co-operation between the navy and industry. Following the introduction of ten Frankenthal-class (332A) minehunting boats and the conversion of ten Hameln-class boats into five Ensdorf-class (352) and five Kulmbach-class (333) boats, the German Navy has had three different systems for naval mine warfare since 2001. A fourth variant was introduced with the conversion of two Class 332A minehunting boats into pure Class 332B minehunter patrol boats. Access marineforum digital+ Are you already a registered user? Fast boats, slow procurement

The soldiers of the sea battalion and KSM are still waiting for a decision from politicians on the purchase of new combat boats. Yet their value is undisputed. Hans-Uwe Mergener Multi-dimensional naval warfare includes amphibious operations. An indispensable prerequisite for this is the availability of suitable means of transport for the soldiers. Operational vehicles for the naval battalion and the naval special forces command (KSM) have therefore been on the naval command's wish list for a long time. However, as with other current Bundeswehr procurement projects, little is currently happening here. Reason enough for the marineforum to take a look at the current state of affairs.
