The Hitzler shipyard in Lauenburg will build the "Ludwig Prandtl II" to replace its namesake. The Helmholtz Centre Hereon in Geesthacht is the client for the 15 million euro new build, which is being financed by the federal government. According to the Bremen Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL), 99 per cent of global orders for new merchant ships, measured in CGT (compensated gross tonnes), went to shipyards in Asia in the first six months of the current year.
