High-precision weapon of the future

Testing of the laser weapon demonstrator on the frigate SACHSEN was recently completed. Insight into the future of maritime defence technology. In a constantly changing threat landscape, the further development of defence technologies is essential. This also applies to new types of high-energy laser weapons, as they offer great potential for future applications. Until now, powerful lasers have only been tested in Germany under laboratory-like conditions. The "high-precision and scalable effect of a laser weapon system against agile/low-signature targets in the near and close range of floating naval system carriers" (HoWiSM) has now been demonstrated for the first time in a sea-based laser weapon demonstrator on the frigate SACHSEN as part of the project of the same name. German Naval Yards: More than a shipyard!

The shock caused by the death of owner Iskandar Safa was huge. Questions and rumours arose. Time for clarifying words. People know us, the German Naval Yards. Accordingly, as an observer and companion of our numerous projects, marineforum is both an in-house must-read and a constructive media partner. When marineforum was first published in its current form at the beginning of the 1970s, two speedboats set sail for Argentina from our premises in Bremen-Vegesack. Particularly popular at the time:...

For a coffee at Abeking & Rasmussen: On the occasion of 50 years of marineforum, the focus was more on the present and the future. The traditional shipyard on the Weser - motto: The art of shipbuilding - is an advertising customer, readership and companion. All the columns and articles that dealt with mine countermeasures units in 500 issues were somehow also about Abeking & Rasmussen. And when the editorial team needed specialist support, every piece of research was handled here in Lemwerder. Time to visit our friends on the Weser again. A warm welcome from CEO Matthias Hellmann, born in 1970, former bank manager and strategy consultant. Access marineforum digital+ Are you already a registered user? Now...
