Jianghu II class frigate decommissioned

The Chinese navy decommissioned its frigate Zhaotong (555) on 26 April. It was one of the last Jianghu II class (type 053 H1) ships still in service. These purely Chinese products were designed and produced in the 1980s. With a length of 103 metres, the approximately 10 metre wide units only displaced around 1600 tonnes. The decommissioning ceremony took place at the Sanya naval base. The ship joined the Chinese navy in 1987 and has travelled more than 230,000 nautical miles over the past 34 years. Handover of the second Sa'ar 6 corvette to Israel

The Israeli navy has gained a modern corvette. The second Sa'ar 6 class corvette was christened today, 4 April, at Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) in Kiel. German Navy does not receive used French MPAs

The German Navy is currently struggling to find a successor for its Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPAs) in the near future. The Navy currently operates a fleet of four P-3Cs, which were taken over in used condition from the Dutch Navy in 2006. The original plan was for these aircraft to fly into the 2030s before being replaced by a modern aircraft to be developed jointly with France. However, the current poor condition of the German P-3C makes a much earlier replacement necessary. There was talk of an "interim solution" to bridge the gap until the introduction of the Franco-German MPA, which has yet to be developed. Paris...

During the deployment, the corvette was accompanied by the fuel supply vessel RFS Kola and the ocean-going tug RFS Yakov Grebelsky. The damage sustained was still visible when the ship returned to the Baltic Sea and was visible on the hull and superstructure (covered behind white and beige-coloured tarpaulins) in the aft section on the starboard side. In the Baltic Sea, the Russian warship was shadowed by the corvette Braunschweig from the 1st Corvette Squadron from Warnemünde. ...

Further P-8I possible for India

The US State Department has approved the sale of six additional P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to India. The transaction could take place as part of a foreign military sale and would be worth 2.4 billion dollars. In addition to the actual aircraft from the manufacturer Boeing, these costs also include associated equipment. India ordered eight P-8Is back in 2009, with a further four added in 2016. If the new purchase were to be carried out by the country, India would have 18 of the high-quality aircraft. According to the Americans, the sale is intended to emphasise the partnership with the ally and strengthen...
