Canal with water shortage

As early as 1827, Goethe dreamed of building a waterway from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean through the isthmus between North and South America. The greater Indo-Pacific region encompasses all sea areas between the east coast of Africa and the west coast of America, and there are two standard routes for the two units of the German Navy's Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024. The long route via South America around the infamous Cape Horn through the Strait of Magellan or the short route through the Panama Canal. More flexibility in assistance

The US Navy is introducing a new class of hospital ship. The new units are smaller, faster and more manoeuvrable than the previous US hospital ships. In December 2023, the US Navy awarded Austal the contract for the construction of three hospital ships of the new Bethesda class. The new ships are also known as Expeditionary Medical Ships (EMS). These are the first new hospital ships since the introduction of the two Mercy-class units in the mid-1980s. The Bethesda class will complement the much larger USNS Mercy and USNS Comfort ships for the time being, but will eventually replace them. There alone, Turkey is represented in 46 of the 54 states, having declared the continent a strategic partner. In February...

Don't forget the Atlantic for all the Pacific

So now it has sailed, the navy's Indo-Pacific convoy. There is a lot to read about it, about the two ships, the crews, the military-political significance of the voyage and the security policy context in South-East Asia. Once around the globe! But before the convoy reached the Pacific Ocean and, much later, the Indian Ocean, it steered a westerly course through the Atlantic Ocean for three weeks.
