If the local press is to be believed, more than 10,000 guests from near and far visited the Heppenser Groden naval base on Saturday 17 June at the Armed Forces Day. The entire Bundeswehr, not just the armed forces, had put on a "proper" display in the truest sense of the word. The many interested visitors were able to obtain comprehensive information. The MOV, MOH and DMI had set up a joint information stand in a prominent position on the western pier.
