Armada: Frigate "Santa Maria" cancelled for ATALANTA for the time being after fire in hangar

On the second Sunday in October, the Spanish frigate "Santa Maria" (F81, type ship of the same class, Spanish Oliver-Hazard-Perry licence build 1982-94) should have replaced her sister ship "Numancia" (F83) in the "European Union Naval Force - Somalia - Operation Atalanta". At the very least, this day was scheduled as the departure date from the Rota naval base in south-west Spain. However, two days before departure, shortly after midnight, a fire broke out in the empty helicopter hangar, which could only be declared extinguished the following day - with such extensive damage that departure was no longer an option. The crew reacted quickly and supported the surrounding units...

EuroNaval: France presents its new carrier

The project was launched by the then Minister of Defence Florence Parly at the last live EuroNaval 2018 (only virtual in 2020). Now, on 19 October 2022, the French Ministry of Defence used this year's international naval industry gala at the Naval Group stand in Le Bourget to present a model of the future carrier with some details. Prince of Wales into the dock

The Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales is on its way from Portsmouth to Rosyth. When the ship sailed for New York last month, damage occurred to the starboard shaft. Inspection by divers revealed that the shaft coupling had failed. The quickest and safest way to repair the shaft and return the ship to service is to put the aircraft carrier into dry dock in Rosyth. There are few options for accommodating a ship the size of 65,000 tonnes. Since the aircraft carrier returned to Portsmouth Naval Base at the beginning of September, the ship's engineers have been working...
