The Colombian Ministry of Defence has confirmed the signing of a contract between the Dutch Damen shipyard and the state-owned shipbuilding complex Cotecmar (Corporación de Ciencia y Tecnología para el Desarrollo de la Industria Naval Marítima y Fluvial). The object of the contract is the construction documentation for Colombia's new frigate PES (Plataforma Estrategia de Superficie - Strategic Surface Unit), which is to be built at the shipyard in Cartagena-de-Indias on the Caribbean side of Colombia.
