Change of command at the Naval Support Command Wilhelmshaven

Nothing is as constant as change: Flotilla Admiral Matthias Michael Potthoff took over command of the Naval Support Command in Wilhelmshaven from Flotilla Admiral Lars Holm on 29 September 2023. He has now been called to the Federal Ministry of Defence, where he has already taken up his post. On Tuesday 13 January, he handed over command to Captain David Helmbold. The handover was carried out by Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard, Commander Support at the Naval Command in Rostock.

The change comes at a time when digitalisation, unmanned systems and artificial intelligence are increasingly a focus of the German Navy. The move has already begun under the direction of Flotilla Admiral Potthoff. The MUKdo plays a decisive role in the operational capability of the German Navy with the establishment of a dedicated department "System Centre Digitalisation Dimension Sea".
