On Friday, 24 September 2021 at 10 am, frigate captain Florian Lübeck handed over his duties to corvette captain Robert Lehmann. For three years, Frigate Captain Lübeck was the base commander in Warnemünde.
Major events such as the Hansesail or the numerous guest visits by international military ships and boats were his personal highlights and characterised his work and the hospitality of the base. The naval officer bids farewell with words of thanks to his staff: "What I will remember most is the excellent cooperation with the staff at the base; my heart is attached to the base and I am reluctant to leave Hohe Düne." Frigate Captain Lübeck will take up a new post at the Ministry in Bonn. There he will be responsible for the ministerial management of NATO in the procurement agency NSPO.
The new commander, Corvette Captain Lehmann, has spent most of his military career at sea. He initially began his career in the speedboat squadron, followed later by the obligatory specialised training courses for an officer. Warnemünde has always been his home port and now, as commander of the Naval base home again. "I am now setting my anchor where my first 'sea legs' grew some twenty years ago.", says Lehmann. He looks forward to his new role with anticipation, optimism and pride. The new commander's outlook: "I am particularly looking forward to the challenge of providing logistical support to the seagoing units and flying units in the fulfilment of their mission well, gladly and with full vigour at all times and to the opportunity to continue to give our navy a professional face in Rostock together with my comrades."
