In Cologne, the town twinning with the corvette KÖLN is taken seriously: not only at the local political level at the receptions for the crew of the KÖLN, but also the „Freundeskreis Marineschiffe KÖLN e.V.“ stands for active sponsorship as well as preservation and maintenance of the memorial in the Eigelstein-Torburg, in memory of the 507th anniversary of the corvette.
