On Thursday, 14 October 2021 at 1 pm, the Federal Minister of Defence, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, will be visiting the Mürwik Naval Academy.
After the Minister arrives, she will be welcomed by the Commander of the Naval Academy, Flotilla Admiral Jens Nemeyer (58). A three-hour programme is planned for her. The Minister will gain a personal impression of the practical training of the officer candidates. In personal discussions with soldiers, the Minister will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the daily routine of officer training at the Mürwik Naval Academy.
The first stop on her tour will be the ship handling simulator, which was modernised in 2018. Here she will be given an overview of the training of German Navy bridge personnel. The minister will then attend a pre-sailing training session at the school's training mast. Here she will learn the future cadets of the "Gorch Fock" are going to stay ashore in the rigging, in order to be able to master important manoeuvres in advance. She was already introduced to the training on the Gorch Fock when she was on board for the handover to the navy.
The Minister will take the opportunity in the sailing hall to address a few words to the officer cadets and the permanent staff of the Naval Academy.
