The NH90 Sea Tiger made its debut at the Paris Air Show. The premiere was exciting for aviation experts: the armament of the new multi-role frigate helicopter has now been shown in France. The NH 90 Sea Tiger will replace the era of the Westland Sea Lynx with a new concept. It is the latest development for the needs of the German Navy. The Sea Tiger will be able to fight submarines independently of its base, the frigate. It can operate both as a submarine hunter and as a surface weapon carrier and engage sea targets. It is equipped with sonar, electro-optical observation and targeting systems as well as weapon stations as an external load and for "doorgunners" on board. A 6-launcher for 70 mm rockets, which can be mounted on the outside of the helicopter, was demonstrated in Paris. The first NH90 Sea Tiger, which took off for its maiden flight in Donauwörth two years ago (photo), is in Paris. The requirement is defined for two helicopters per frigate. It is rumoured that the crew concept is also becoming increasingly operational. In future, a "Rotary - Maritime Patrol Aircraft" will enormously strengthen the capabilities of the German Navy in surface and underwater naval warfare. Delivery of the 31 NH 90 Sea Tigers ordered to the naval aviation command in Nordholz near Cuxhaven will officially begin in September 2025. The Sea Tiger will move to Nordholz after the Air Show. Delivery begins in September.
