"Coming home, letting go and experiencing" - that is the German Navy's motto for Kiel Week
From 20 to 29 June 2025, the German Navy will welcome a good 30 ships and boats from twelve nations to the 131st Kiel Week. More than 1,800 marines from all over the world will populate the sailing capital of Germany.
The guests include the US command ship "USS Mount Whitney". The US destroyer DDG 117 "USS Paul Ignatius" has already left the Baltic Sea. The reason for this is the Middle East conflict; the destroyer is needed in the Mediterranean.
On Thursday, 26 June 2025, the German Navy's training sailing ship, the "Gorch Fock", will also return from its 182nd training voyage abroad. The "Gorch Fock" will lead the windjammer parade on Saturday, 28 June - a colourful spectacle that brings maritime tradition to life.
After the 'Gorch Fock' returns to her home port, an additional small open ship will be offered on Friday, 27 June 2025 to allow visitors to view the sail training ship. The races of the traditional cutter regatta will also take place in the fjord.
