The high-speed catamaran "Halunder Jet" made its last trip to Heligoland for 2022 yesterday.
The shipping company can look back on a satisfactory season.
This year, FRS Helgoline travelled to Heligoland from Hamburg and Cuxhaven with the high-speed catamaran "Halunder Jet" until 31 October 2022. After starting the season late and with many restrictions due to the pandemic in the last two years, the first trip in 2022 was able to take place on time on 25 March.
The catamaran transported just under 165,000 passengers, which is satisfactory compared to the last two coronavirus years, but did not match the passenger figures from 2019. In 2021, a total of 142,000 passengers were transported to and from the island. FRS Helgoline Managing Director Tim Kunstmann says: "We are pleased that we were able to operate the Helgoland service this year with almost no restrictions and bring so many passengers to the high seas island of Heligoland."
Three highlights stood out in particular this season: Firstly, the FRS Helgoline Music Cruise with Thees Uhlmann & Band took place in the Nordseehalle on Heligoland. After concerts with Fatty Bread and Johannes Oerding the third event of this kind and will not be the last. Planning for the event in 2023 is already underway.
Booking start for the 2023 season begins!
The topic of renewable energies was very popular with passengers. The excursions to the Meerwind Süd/Ost offshore wind farm were well booked and will be offered again next year. This year's "Lange-Anna-Challenge", in which Heligoland's mayor Jörg Singer competed against the high-speed catamaran on an e-surfboard, was a favourite project. Even though the "Halunder Jet" emerged victorious from the race, the island of Heligoland was the big winner. The event raised numerous donations for an innovative marine litter bin, which has since been installed.
In the coming year 2023, the catamaran will sail daily from Hamburg and Cuxhaven to Heligoland from 24 March to 31 October. Tickets for 2023 are now available at www.frs-helgoline.de bookable. Special highlight: Journeys on the "Halunder Jet" can still be purchased at this year's prices without a price increase until the end of the year.
