"The Ankerlauf has established itself as a firm favourite in recent years. But this time the event will be topped. With the live performance by "Detonators & Friends" and the band "Sarah feat. Dad", we are trying to significantly increase the number of participants. At first glance, we've succeeded," says the organiser, Lieutenant Captain Thorsten. "In the spirit of the cause, we are trying to encourage as many members of the Bundeswehr as possible to take part and make voluntary donations. With the sporting part, but also with the supporting programme of live music and drinks and an information stand about the "Lachen Helfen e.V." association, there was something for everyone," says the lieutenant captain, summing up the event.

The commander of Flotilla 2, Captain Beck, together with the association's honorary chairman, Lieutenant Colonel Thien, opened the run, which once again saw a record number of participants after last year. The idea of organising the Ankerlauf 2025 for the association "Lachen helfen e.V" was born during the weekend at the Jade 2024.

Retired sergeant major Oliver Weist, the association's site representative for Wilhelmshaven and Schortens and band leader of the music group "Detonators & Friends", organised the entire stage programme for the Bundeswehr village. This is how the organisation of the run became aware of the association. "The "Lachen helfen e.V." campaign is an initiative of German soldiers and police officers who are committed to helping children in war and crisis zones. For this reason, we are also inviting police officers to take part in the charity run."

The Ankerlauf was modelled on the Terry Fox Run. In addition to the sporting challenge, the organisers also adopted the idea of financially supporting various charitable organisations. Among others, the DKMS, the DGzRS, the August Desenz Drehorgelstiftung and the Deutsche Seemannsmission were supported financially.

- The first Ankerlauf was launched in 2018 in aid of DKMS.

- The second anchor run in favour of the DGzRS took place in 2019.

- In 2020, the race had to be cancelled due to the CORONA pandemic.

- The August Desenz barrel organ foundation was supported in 2021.

- In 2022, the run was organised in aid of the German Seamen's Mission.

- In 2023, the "Pfötchen" campaign, crown caps for therapy dogs, was supported.
