The "Red Castle by the Sea", built between 1907 and 1910 by building councillor Adalbert Kelm in the style of the Marienburg of the Teutonic Order according to the ideas of Emperor Wilhelm II, undoubtedly looks back on a long, albeit very eventful history. Every joint of the red brick building, which towers over the fjord in the east of the city of Flensburg, is bursting with historical references.
