Naval Training Centre for the UAE Navy

Trainers wanted!

   Exterior view of the NTC in the UAE

A brand new Naval Training Centre (NTC) is currently being handed over as "ready-for-use" (project phase 1) by CAE Maritime Middle East to the UAE Navy in Taweelah. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no ceremony, which will take place in about a year when project phase 2 "ready-for-training" is completed. The scope of delivery essentially includes

  • Seven simulator suites (each with bridge, OPZ and ST control centre) for entire ship crews; configurable for fourteen ship classes, generic hardware and ship-specific software;
  • two simulators with tactical consoles of two naval helicopter models;
  • an MPA simulator for the back-end crew (Al-Dhafra Airbase);
  • an integrated task group staff training room; and
  • a fully integrated tactical floor for up to one hundred people.

Tactical Floor

All deployed simulators are connected to the NTC in Taweelah via the military high-speed network and can be used flexibly in one or more scenarios. In the subsequent expansion phase, further ship simulator suites are to be integrated in a distant naval base as well as simulators specially customised for the Coast Guard in a Coast Guard base and additionally the simulation of the UAE Navy's standard UAV (S-100).

The NTC covers the entire spectrum of training for the fleet and naval air forces, from individual training to team training and the training of entire crews through to the collective training of a task group including CTG staff. However, there is still a lack of experienced training personnel. We are looking for 10-12 officers with sound experience in ship handling/navigation, AAW, ASW, ASuW, ship technology/damage control and an FDO with a training licence. Interested parties should send an e-mail to FKpt a.D. Thomas Scholz ([email protected]) in Abu Dhabi. An English CV is required for the application.
