After the boat took part in the festivities The new submarine "Magadan" (B-602) of the modified Kilo II class (project 636.3) was allowed to embark on a transfer voyage lasting several months after taking part in the Russian Navy Day in Saint Petersburg at the end of July. The submarine, which entered service on 12 October 2021, was accompanied by the ocean-going tug "Viktor Konetskiy" on the 9,000 nautical mile journey to Vladivostok. On 9 October 2022, both reached the North Pacific home base of the "Magadan" on the Sea of Japan.

Construction series for the Pacific fleet
The "Magadan" is the third of six Kilo II-class submarines ordered for the Russian Pacific Fleet from the Admiralty Shipyard in St. Petersburg. The submarines, which displace a good 3,000 tonnes when submerged and are almost 74 metres long, were ordered in September 2016. The boats "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" and "Volkhov" have already been commissioned in the last two years and handed over to the Pacific Fleet. The other three sister boats "Mozhaysk", "Ufa" and "Yakutsk", which are currently under construction or undergoing trials, are expected to be delivered by 2024.
Construction series for the Black Sea Fleet
The first batch of Project 636.3 with six boats went to the Black Sea Fleet ten years ago. These boats last became known there as carriers of the submarine-launched Kalibr cruise missiles SS-N-27 (sea target) or SS-N-30 (land target), of which they can carry a maximum of six in their torpedo tubes.
