USS "Alexandria" visits South Korea - North Korea reacts with harsh criticism
The USS "Alexandria" (SSN-757)a fast, nuclear-powered attack submarine of the Los Angeles classhas in Busan (about 200 miles southeast of Seoul, opposite Japan), according to a spokesman for the U.S. Naval Forces Korea announced. No further details were published. The ship, which entered service in 1991 "Alexandria" (6,900 tonnes) is conventional weapons equipped.
North Korea's reaction: harsh criticism of the USA
North Korea's state media reacted immediately and described the arrival of the US submarine as a "undeniable threat". They threw the USA of further fuelling tensions on the Korean peninsula and once again warn against "Countermeasures". It was also said that Washington openly ignored the North Korea's security concerns.
The last US submarine to be built in Busan arrived, the USS "Vermont" (SSN-792)a Virginia class-submarine, which was Pearl Harbor, Hawaii is stationed in South Korea. It visited South Korea in September 2024to reaffirm America's commitment to the region, according to the U.S. Navy. How long US warships have been in South Korean waters will be from operational security reasons are not regularly announced.

Strategic deterrence against North Korea
